Balenciaga is hoping to reel in customers with fishermenâs style WADERS costing nearly Â£2,500.

The wacky footwear is on a sale as part of its winter collection.

The black boots are said to be âover-the-kneeâ designed.

But they are so long they come up to the wearerâs waist.

They look just like the waterproof clobber anglers wear when fly-fishing standing in a river.

The under fire, trendy fashion houseâs âWomenâs waders 110mm over-the-knee boot in blackâ are for sale for Â£2,450.

But they canât be used for fishing because they are made of calf-skin - and can only be wiped clean with a cloth.

One shopper said: âItâs not exactly what youâd wear to do the weekly shop at Tesco.

âBut Iâm sure some people will fall hook, line and sinker for them.

The waders are only available in shoe sizes two to seven.

The description reads: âWaders 110mm Over-The-Knee Boot in matte black calfskin is in several looks of the Balenciagaâs Winter 22 Collection, 360Â° Show.

âMatte calfskin, over-the-knee boot, pointed toe, flared upper, 110mm arch

âTone-on-tone covered heel, black outsole, made in Italy, wipe with a soft cloth.â

Balenciaga has been popular with A-listers like Kim Kardashian and Premier League footballers such as Jack Grealish.

But it faced a backlash last November after kids were used in ad campaigns holding bondage teddy bears.

Sudah menjadi ciri khas Balenciaga sejak di bawah arahan desainer Demna untuk membuat produk fashion yang 'out of the box' dengan harga yang fantastis, sehingga sesekali mengundang nyinyiran. Terbaru, sepasang alas kaki yang terinspirasi dari boots nelayan.

Sepatu yang dimaksud sudah muncul terlebih dulu di peragaan Balenciaga koleksi Winter 2022 yang bertajuk '360° Show'. Digelar dalam rangkaian Paris Fashion Week pada Maret 2022, presentasi koleksi tersebut menampilkan para model berjalan di tengah badai salju buatan.

"Waders 110mm Over-The-Knee Boot in matte black calfskin is in several looks of the Balenciaga's Winter 22 Collection, 360° Show," demikian Balenciaga mendeskripsikan sepatu tersebut di situsnya.

Waders merupakan istilah untuk boots yang biasa menjadi para nelayan, umumnya di negara barat. Berbeda dari boots kebanyakan, waders menutupi hampir seluruh kaki. Bentuknya seperti sepatu yang menyatu dengan celana.

Dalam versi Balenciaga, waders hadir dengan material kulit yang mewah. Desainnya pun tak biasa dengan siluet yang melebar ke bagian atas.

"Tentu ini bukan sepatu yang bisa kamu pakai saat belanja minggu di Tesco," komentar seorang pembeli seperti dikutip Page Six. "Tapi saya yakin banyak orang yang ingin ikut-ikutan membelinya," tambah dia.

Balenciaga menjual produk buatan Italia ini seharga US$ 3.500 atau Rp 54 juta. Dengan harga tersebut, apakah akan tetap laris di pasaran?

Apalagi Balenciaga belum benar-benar pulih dari kontroversi iklan yang mencoreng citranya. Rumah mode yang didirikan oleh Cristobal Balenciaga pada 1919 ini sempat dituduh mempromosikan pornografi anak setelah menampilkan anak kecil berpose dengan boneka beruang bertema seks.
